Kashmir started in the NYC/NJ Tri-state area by founder and singer Jean Violet back in 2000. Jean was in a popular NYC Led Zeppelin Tribute called Time Of Dying which performed frequently on Bleecker Street and even performed at Madison Square Garden as the house band for an indoor arena football team in the summer of 1999. Jean saw the huge potential of expanding the band across the east coast and beyond and performing for festivals and theatres, so he decided to create a new Led Zeppelin tribute and named it Kashmir.
